Become a First Responder

This partnership between Eckerd Connects and Fostering Hope Florida is a vital program designed to improve the overall experience for children coming into foster care in Pinellas and Pasco counties. 

What does a First Responder look like?

• Able to pass a background check and home study and willing to participate in 25 hours of pre-service training.
• Ready to step in-the-gap the moment a child is separated from parents.
• Willing and able to keep a child or sibling group up to 30 days while a good match foster family is located.

Why we need First Responders:

1. To protect children from the added trauma caused by removal.
2. To increase the availability of a warm and safe place for children to go when entering foster care.
3. To allow time to make a good foster home match for each child.
