What does a First Responder look like?
- Able to pass a background check and home study and willing to participate in 25 hours of pre-service training.
- Ready to step in-the-gap the moment a child is separated from parents.
- Willing and able to keep a child or sibling group up to 30 days while a good match foster family is located.
Why we need First Responders:
- To protect children from the added trauma caused by removal.
- To increase the availability of a warm and safe place for children to go when entering foster care.
- To allow time to make a good foster home match for each child.
