Do you know a former foster youth 18-26 that could use some help navigating adulthood? Or maybe a family that could use some help. (Help on the front end keeps children in their homes and prevents the need for foster care.) The Florida Department of Children & Families has a Helpline and services ready to help. Please save this # and be prepared to bring HOPE to someone in need. There are nearly 6,000 12-17 year olds in the Florida foster care system. One thing they all have in common is the need for a stable, loving, home. With our current shortage of homes accepting teens, a teenager may experience dozens, yes dozens of placements: foster homes, group homes, shelters, residential treatment programs…Many of our teens have trouble being placed or lasting in a placement, due to behaviors (some just age-normal and some trauma-related.)
The good news is that some teens find that perfect home where they thrive. This is what we want for every child. Each teenager is just one loving foster parent away from being a success story. Do you have room in your heart and your home to be that one person? If you’re ready to open your heart and home to a child, call/text Gloria 727-688-5328. |
